This past month a number of us were able to be together at Connect. There were many highlights – hearing from Tasha Hoover on John 16:33 and how we can take heart in the midst of our liminal spaces, Spirit filled times of worship led by Lauren and Riley Hall, the beautiful sunny weather in the Netherlands (no that isn’t sarcasm – it was perfect!). The one thing (besides Jesus of course) that made all of these things richer and deeper, was experiencing all of this with our community! According to the CDC, Social Connection or being with your community “creates feelings of belonging and being loved, cared for and valued. Social connections are important to our mental and physical health. Being connected to others helps protect against serious illness and disease. People with stronger social bonds are more likely to live longer, healthier lives.” So, this month – whether you’re in full blown summer, school is starting up again for you, or you’re mid-winter – make an effort to reach out to your community. Get together. Laugh together. Cry together. Share a meal. Bolster your own health by practicing connection! Be well!
