Both Chris and Gloria grew up as Missionary Kids or MK’s as those seemingly strange but wonderful 3rd culture kids call themselves. Chris grew up moving every three or four years between Spain, Belgium, California and Oregon following around his musicianary (musician + Missionary) parents. Gloria, a 2nd generation MK, was born and raised in the North of Spain. Little did they know though that years later their passion for the Spanish people, its culture and seeing his Kingdom come would draw them together… well Chris would say he was completely drawn by her amazing looks and lovely personality 🙂
And how did they meet you might ask? As Chris finished his time working with youth at his church and with 24-7 prayer he decided to join Communitas in 2008. Upon completing some training with Oasis Madrid (another Communitas church plant in Spain) he met Gloria. With great exultation and with all the might he could muster, he valiantly wooed her. Two years later they married in a small village called Lerma in 2011 and they lived happily…
Oh, but this is just the beginning…
They continue with a clear vision of doing life along side artists and musicians. Gloria is a photographer, graphic art designer, an amazing sewer and honestly put anything in her hands and she’ll do something creative with it. Chris simply keeps himself busy with music and continues to promote and play in various projects.
They are currently involved in a Spanish speaking church of artists called Découpage. You can find them any day of the week in Malasaña, the soho of Madrid, having coffee on a terrace, inviting friends to dinner, collaborating on an art exposition, or simply having conversations about Christ as they walk through the neighborhood. They are committed to a community of faith that practices a daily rhythm of worship, mission, discipleship and community. Their big dream is to see many more vibrant communities of faith following Jesus within the different social contexts that Spanish culture finds itself.
